Member Guidelines

MEMBERSHIP

To qualify for membership with Our Lady of Walsingham Homeschool Co-op, you must:

  • Be an actively homeschooling family with at least one child being homeschooled.

  • Pay enrollment fees.

  • Adhere to the No Drop-Off Policy: Every enrolled child must have a parent or legal guardian on campus at all times.

  • Teach one class or assist in two classes every week during the semester.

  • Assist in the setup or cleanup of our meeting space throughout the semester.

  • Complete all required Church and State volunteer requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Every volunteer role is essential to the successful operation of the co-op. Faithful participation, clear communication, and a willingness to serve help create a positive experience for all families and contribute to the success of Our Lady of Walsingham Homeschool Co-op.

Teacher Responsibilities

  • Prepare for your class, bringing all necessary materials not provided by the co-op.

  • Communicate regularly with your assistants so they understand the class objectives and activities.

  • Provide lesson plans, activities, and class materials for your assistants if you are going to be absent.

  • Communicate with the parents of the students in your class either in person, through our private Signal group chat, email, or through the website.

  • Submit receipts for any class materials purchased for your co-op class.

Assistant Responsibilities

  • Engage and interact with the children in the class.

  • Help the teacher lead activities and pass out materials.

  • Be prepared to substitute for the teacher in case of an absence.

  • Keep the teacher aware of the time so that activities do not run over the class period.

  • Help clean up materials and return them to their proper place.

  • Guide students outside to recess.

Member Expectations

  • Attend class days consistently and regularly.

  • Communicate with the program director and appropriate teachers/assistants about planned and/or unplanned absences.

  • Serve in your role during class days and offer help where needed.

  • Support community events by volunteering as you are reasonably able.

  • Check the website and private Signal group regularly to stay informed about co-op announcements and updates.
  • Work with other members to create a positive learning environment for the children.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

  • Students should come to the co-op ready to learn and participate in class.

  • No excessive noise, screaming, shouting, or running in the building.

  • Students are expected to be on time for classes and attend the classes in which they are enrolled.

  • Electronic Devices: Students are expected to follow the Electronic Device Policy found under General Information.

  • Students must be respectful of all other students and adults, as well as be cooperative with others in the co-op. This includes refraining from profanity, rude language, or disrespectful speech.

  • Students are expected to help maintain a clean classroom by assisting their teachers with cleanup after each class.
